Co-ordinates

I learnt how to use Coordinates.

First, I learnt what is coordinates and how is wrote. Coordinates is just like a map that shows you where to find the location in the correct place. Coordinates is a table with the numbers on the side and the letters on the bottom and its wrote like this (B,2).

Next, I had to explain how to find coordinates. You have to read the bottom row first and see which place it’s in. Then read the side and see which row it’s in.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to use Coordinates. I did well on finding coordinates. I need to improve on explaining how to find coordinates.

Cultural Stories

I learnt new cultural stories.

First, my partner and I read the first story that was about Rata Me te Rakau The story about Rata Me Te Rakau is that a person name Rata needs to find a tall and straight tree to carry his people away from the battle of Tawhirimatea and Tangaroa. When Rata found a perfect tree, he started cutting and went back home but when he came back the tree was all tall and straight because he did not respect the nature.

Next, my partner and I read the second story that was about Rua and Te Manu. The story about Rua and Te manu is that Rua always warn Te Manu to keep safe but one day Te Manu paddled too far. Rua went to find him and bring him back home. He saw a whare and decided to go there and then he saw Te Manu on top of the Whare. Rua had to do the things he was told to, then he set the whare in fire and got his son back.

Last, my partner and I read third story that was about The Kakangora. The story about The Kakangaora is that in the next morning, the villager went outside to pick up some ripe nuts but there was nothing on the ngali tree. They decided to catch the The Kakangaora. After they caught the Kakangaora, everyone started arguing because they all have different ideas. The Kakanroga cut the eel trap then ran away. When they finally stopped arguing, they saw the Kakanroga was gone.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt new cultural stories. I did well on knowing what happened. I need to improve on knowing the message.

Making Connection

We revised making connection.

First, we read two different text which they are “The Three Little Pigs” and “This Little Pig”.

Next, we had to make connection with the two text we read. For an example: This Little Pig stayed home. My connection was The other two little pigs stayed at the third’s little pigs house. Then I typed down my other two connection I made.

I enjoyed this activity because I made connection with two different text. I did well on typing down my connections I made. I need to improve on finding a different text to make connection with.

Smart Surfing

We learnt stuff about Smart Surfing.

First, we had to search up “Spider Flower” and “Flower Spider” so we could see if there is a different result and we had to take a screenshot of it. When I searched up “Flower Spider” it showed information about a spider called Misuma Vatia and when I searched up “Spider Flower” it showed informations about the spider flower.

Next, we had to search up blue sky and sky blue so we could see if there is a different result and we had to take a screenshot of it. When I searched up “Sky Blue” it showed the colours of the sky and when I searched up “Blue Sky” it showed an picture of a sky.

Last, we had to mispell our school’s name,  search our school’s name in lowercase and then using capital, and searching where our school is located with a question mark at the end and without. When I searched it up it kept showing the same thing. What matters? Order of Words and Sometimes small words can make a difference. What doesn’t matter? Spelling, Punctuation, and Capitalisation.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt stuff about Smart Smurfing. I did well on searching up. I need to improve on finding the difference.
