Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find the story behind this picture.


Our challenge was to write create a DLO that shows where this lighthouse is and what the story is behind the image. We found out that the Phares dans la Tempete, la Jument is a lighthouse in France, near the Brittany coast. There was a raging storm crashing onto the lighthouse, and the helicopters were hovering around the lighthouse for Jean Guichard to take several pictures of the dramatic moment. The owner inside, Theodore Malgorne, rushes himself outside and sees the waves were pounding onto his lighthouse. He also realises the waves are going to overtake the structure, he quickly hurried himself back inside the lighthouse to save his life.

I found this activity helpful because it helps improve my smart searching skills and be able to retell the story in my own words.

Inchcape Rock

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem.

The Ship stayed motionless along with calm wind and waves. No sound of danger the waves streamed over the rock. Aberbrothok arranged a bell on the rock to warn sailors. The Marines heard the bell chimed giving them a warning. Each and every thing were all joyful on that day. Rover stepped onto the dock and glanced on the the speck. He felt a cheering inside making him whistle and sing. His eye was on the inchcape rock thoughting  something wicked. Sir Ralph rowed over and slices the shiny bell off. The bell lowered down into the water making a gurgling sounds. Sir Ralph has grown rich and travelled for many days.  The thick murk spreaded the sky they couldn’t see light. The Rover stood on the deck and see no land, Sir Ralph wishes he could he the inchcape bell. They drifted along until the vessel hits onto the rock. The strong waves rushes on every side making it sink. Below the sea the Rover could hear the bell ringing.

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was when Sir Ralph got himself lost in a gloomy atmosphere and his vessel crashes onto the Inchcape Rock because it shows a justified punishment for doing the wrong doing.

I found this activity interesting because the details they added into the poem increased interest in myself. The poem hooked me in, making me keep reading and learning more about the story.

Something Happenned Here..

LI: Learning about New Zealand History.

LS2 has been learning and discovering about all places in New Zealand about the history behind it. My partner and I chose one of the 36 cards and we chose to learn the history behind Ahi Ka. It took place in Bastion Point and it’s a special place with lots of history behind it. Bastion Point was where Michael Joseph Savage’s body was buried, the Government took away Ngati Whatua land so Te Puea led a petition to restore their land back and the Crown decided to get rid of people who lived in Okahu Bay by burning it down, when all the houses were burned down the only building was standing was the Chapel and the Cemetery.

We found this activity interesting because we like how were learning more information about the past and learning the History behind one of the places in New Zealand.

How do I honour the Treaty?

LI: To explore the world in 1840 in the art of treaty

This week, we used our the reading knowledge to create a summary that explains briefly what happened on the Treaty using 6 important words we could think of. Before we had written a summary, we needed to read a text to sum up.

I found this activity respectful because it tells us why the Treaty of Waitangi is important to New Zealand, why we should honour the Treaty and how we can honour it.

Main Ideas

LI: To identify the main ideas in the text

This week we have been learning how to find and collaboratively decide on the main idea in a text by negotiating. We read the text Lester and Clyde. This was a text about the consequences of pollution. Our group think the main idea was that the text was telling us not to pollute the environment because it affects other species.

We found this activity helpful because it helps us negotiating and collaborating together as a group so we could get used to each other.

Space Shuttle Orbiter

I revised on what I have learned over the past 3 weeks.

First, my group had to pick a technology we want to learn about. We decided to learn about the Space Shuttle Orbiter, we had to make a timeline of it.

Next, we had to find out the purpose, users, and stakeholders of the space shuttle orbiter and we had to write notes on our books about the facts we have researched.

Then, we had to find out the controversy of the space shuttle orbiter and then we had to create a podcast audio of it.

Last, we had to make an interactive report of it. We decided to make a quiz about the space shuttle orbiter, we had to plan on making our quiz before making our quiz.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt lots of information about the space shuttle orbiter. I did well on finding out the controversy. I need to improve on finding the purpose, users and stakeholders.

Space Shuttle Orbiter

We made a quiz of a piece of technology we have learnt over the past 3 weeks.

First, we had to make an interactive report with the technology we have learned. The five kind of interactive reports are: Quiz with correct and incorrect answers, Puzzle, Match Challenge, and a Game that we can copy. For an example Snake and ladders. We decided to make a quiz

Next, we planned our quiz. For an example: Densyn and Malosi are putting the links, Bethany, Azarliah and I are finding our questions and Myah is putting the boarders.

Last, We made our quiz.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt lots of information about the space shuttle orbiter. I did well on finding questions. I need to improve on planning

Podcast

We made a podcast audio if the space shuttle orbiters are good or bad.

First, we needed to write down notes about the space shuttle orbiter disaster. One of the notes we typed is: The space shuttle orbiter exploded just in 73 seconds after blasting off because the tempurature in one of the main engines was overheating.

Next, we typed down our script. The sentence I had to say is “It is a good transportation but there were two accident that has crashed 3,700 fatal cars.”

Last, we created our podcast audio.

I enjoyed this activity because because I learnt stuff about the space shuttle orbiter disaster. I did well on taking notes. I need to improve on speaking properly.

 

Anyword

I played a can-do task called Anywords.

We had to put the letter of that word in the boxes. There was a mistake we made which was “hi” and “each other”. Hi was in the middle of no where and Each other is two words. Me and my partner scored a tie. We both scored 11.

I enjoyed this activity because I played against with my partner. I did well on thinking of words to put. I need to improve on one of the mistake I made.

Processed Food

We discussed if processed food is good or bad.

First, we got into a group of 4. We had a conversation by using the extended discussion cards to see if processed food is good or bad for us.

Next, we needed to type down our opinion on the slide. My opinion is that I think processed food is good because it makes our brain work properly and gives us energy.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt if processed food is good. I did well on being Comprehender. I need to improve on being Opposer.
